MT is an electromagnetic geophysical technique that uses natural electric fields from lightning sources, solar flares and ionospheric resonances that induce current flow in the ground which allows us to image the earth’s electrical resistivity structure from surface to great depths. Deep penetrating method for MT routinely measures from surface to 2, 5, 10 or more tah 10s of km depending on the application. MT acquisition might acquire the data in 12 hours or more on the other hand AMT will do 2-3 hours for the range of 2-3 Km. MT/AMT survey will cover 8 Post Administrative such as Uatocarabao (Viqueque Municipality), Laga, Baguia (Baucau Municipality), Lautem, Tutuala, Lore, Lavai, Luri, Illiomar (Lautem Municipality). This survey will acquire 154 points of MT and 144 points of AMT with the duration of approximately 2 months.
MT/AMT data acquisition and result will be a basis of reference for TGRB to assess or evaluate the line Seismic design to pick up the exact and important locations/spots/points due to the geological complexity and challenges in the field. It will assist and pave the way for Seismic to be optimized in its operation later on.
This event has been successfully conducted, all parties including religious, youth, chief of the Sucos and villages and stake holder have commitments to support this survey when it reaches their area, and they hope for a better outcome.
